Okay, "Singapore" will have to wait! But just before I go on about the uh... emergency, did you know I had friends visiting from Singapore just a couple of weeks ago? Linkey-link here! The post is by a dear friend of mine, Feli. :D
Ok. Emergency.
As some of you probably already know (whoa, wasn't that a mouthful) that I'll be reading ChemEng at UCL this coming fall. (Omg, I sound so foreign already. What I meant was. September. Heh.) And I have just been offered accommodation.
At Langton Close.
I know. WHERE THE **** IS THAT?
So I did some google-mapping, apparently it's a 25 minute walk to campus. And the nearest bus stop or train station is 10 minutes away, so basically, the 25 minute journey is inevitable.
Point? No more sleeping in, waking up and rolling into lectures. And that won't do! :(
*RIB spoilt me*
*not that RIB was the best hall in SG, but it did have it's perks of being in campus grounds*
Anyway. I know I'll get used to it once I'm put in that situation. Everyone adapts. I KNOW. But before I'm even put in that situation, I'm looking for a SOLUTION to escape that situation, while. I. still. can.
So now I need help! Advice! Is there any way I can change my hall before starting school? I've heard of swap lists and all but I'd really like to avoid the hassle of unpacking and packing and unpacking again. Loopholes anyone?
Do let me know! I've got 3 (2 more days) to reply my offer and I really don't know what to do! Frankly, I'm not desperate for a place. I think. I'll be going to UK early, so I figured I could look around for private housing nearer to campus. But that means no more hall life. So I'm still kinda.. helpless. I guess the ideal solution would be to get a reallocation to somewhere nearer, like Ian Baker or Schafer, or something! I wouldn't even mind being transferred to an intercollegiate hall.
POI: I think what sucks most is that I'm paying the same price as people who are staying 45 seconds away from campus.
But I hear that's practically impossible (and that I should be grateful I even have a place yada yada yada)... do YOU know someone who's beaten the odds/system?

| Okay. It honestly does not look too bad. But I hear it used to be an old nursing home. And the corridors -- clinic-ey and musty. And me -- I'm worried. :( |

err would it be possible to buy a bike?
If it rains a lot you might wanna get a poncho. If hall life is awesome i guess that's a small price, besides cycle everyday = healthy.
Yeah.. I'll prolly get a bike. And I hear hall life is nice. But I'm not too sure about this one tho. No one seems to talk about it. :S
So i'mma try try try cause it ain't over till the fat ladeh sings! :D
