When the new iPhone was announced, the price was US$199 (S$289) and US$299 (S$433) for the 16GB and 32GB versions respectively. However, contracts of the earliest SingTel iPhone customers are shy of a year. To get a new phone, they would have to break their contracts and pay full price for a new phone or they would have to add two extra years to the contract and pay a subsidised hardware fee. This may cause SingTel to lose a few customers. So instead, SingTel will offer iPhone 3G users who have been its customers for at least six months to upgrade their handsets. They will have to pay between $200 and $738, depending on plan and the handset. Sounds attractive, no? Nevertheless, their contract lengths will also be 'reset' to 24 months. Not so pretty now, huh?
Yes, the upgrade in the hardware is pretty tempting and my mum IS thinking of getting a new phone. It's pretty good timing. She's thinking of the iPhone so I thought she could get the 3G S and then I'd trade it with her since she wouldn't even feel the difference and mine's brand new anyways. 4 month old to be exact. I remember I got it near Valentine's. Dammit. If only I waited 4 months... With my current plan, I could have gotten the 32GB and I need that! My 16GB is full already. Full of songs. I need more songs! Just think about the hardware... autofocus camera, video recording capabilities, voice control, bigger harddisk! Not something you can get from the iPhone Software 3.0 update. But anyway, Apple's prolly coming up with a new handset next year... should I bother chasing these phones? I mean... If my mum weren't looking for one then I wouldn't even bother. But now that she is... I'm not so sure. I know my mum's not gonna wait long to get herSELF a new phone 'cause she lost THE HP THAT I BOUGHT HER! =_= and she's gonna need a replacement REAL soon. If she doesn't get the iPhone, she'll get the Nokia N97 @ $1050 or N86 @ $758, without contract.
Dammit. What do you see?

I see the iPhone. Any SingTel customers gonna end their contracts soon? =D I'm not eligible for re-contract. I need at least 6 months. Dammmmmn.
