Birthdays?

I feel disturbed, honestly. My mind is messed up; I’m SMS-ing while MPS-ing. BUT, I’m getting over it. Why prioritize some one who only sees you as an option?

So here goes - Today is my birthday and after 17 years of roaming and wandering on this pavement they call life, I don’t think much of it any longer. No, not life; I meant birthdays. I’m not THAT emo; in fact, I have a theory that might just justify for my lack of enthusiasm when it comes to birthdays; it isn’t very well worked out as I haven’t given it much thought but it does comes down to a simple equation:

Excitement Generated from Birthdays = 1(Year)/Age

Yes, the logic is simple and the excitement generated from your birthdays will be given when your age is put in the formula. Let’s give it a go, shall we?

So back when you were 5 years old, the formula for EGB comes up with 1/5, which is equivalent to 0.2 (20%). However, as you grow, let’s say when you’re 20 years old, the ecstatic feeling generated diminishes as only 1/20 excitement is produced, also 0.05, which means 5%.

See the drastic drop in excitement levels? It's in numbers, OF COURSE YOU DO! XD After all, it is the percentage of change that makes you feel the magnitude and enormity of something, be it positive or negative sentiments. So on the whole...

My law, Tan Wei Yi’s law, states that the excitement generated from birthdays of a person through changes is inversely proportional to the increase in age of a person provided that the [perception] limit of a person is not exceeded.

LMAO. Too much physics, I know. XD

Time for graphs anyway:

Graph of Excitement Generated from Birthdays Against Age

Yes, I may be in a world of my own right now but I suppose it is somewhat true in the sense that many a times, people tend to get more enthusiastic over birthdays back in their tender days as compared to how they feel about it now and I’m sure you couldn’t agree more.

Nevertheless, you’d probably feel even more elated when you’re like 100 years old, but again, that has far exceeded the so-called perception limit. The cut off age would be 5 and 50. Why 5 & 50? Cause we had amnesia when we were munchkins and 50? Simply because at this point in time, most people acknowledge the fact that they have crossed their half-past mark and with that, they start to grasp every moment in life.

Put yourself in those shoes.

However, don’t take too much time to ponder and rack your brain or else you’d see a lot of holes in this thesis and there goes my law.

Note: Birthdays are not the same as birthday PARTIES.

Hmm true. Never really get excited over it anymore.

Unlike some bloggers who love announcing their birthdays days before their birthdays. Like, who gives a fuck lah.

Just reap the material benefits
